Blog prompt 5 - From my Suroundings

It’s that day. My buddies and I had been waiting for days since the invitation from my brother. It was the day of the school dance and we waited for a half an hour before finally deciding to make it final. Us being the “rebels” we are, we decided to go against the rules and leave, even though our parents knew where wed be. As we walked to our destination, my brother and his friends made a few jokes concerning how we were dressed like “you can so tell it’s their first time.” My brother gave us the hint of wearing all black or there would be a chance of us getting beat up. I then realized after seeing all his friends, there was a 99.99% chance I might have overdone it.
We finally arrived about an hour early then we decided to just go and “kick it” since there wouldn’t be much to do considering it was closed. We broke up into groups while in line. It was my brother’s older friends, then him and his actual friends, then me and three other kids. We were pretty much the posers out of all of them. Previously we had drunk about five monsters, so we were psyched and ready for it. Our hearts were beating of anxiety and adrenaline. Finally we went in.
I first entered and examined everything like a puppy in its new home. To my surprise there was a lot of people. You could see a lot of different people, there was of course the big scary security, the “Metal Heads”, the “Gangster Kids” that were pretty much just messing around, two groups of posers being the “N00Bs” and the “Wanna Be HXC kids”, The “Old School kids” and then my personal favorite, the “Scene Kids”. Luckily I had my brother to tell me what to do. I checked out stands and the bathrooms that looked like no one cleaned them… ever. We entered the room which I had been waiting for. It was dark. The walls were torn but at least still up. It reminded me of the 8th grade commons at night. I looked back to see a bunch of equipment and up forward so see not as much but still a lot of stuff.
Lights shining all around different colors. It’s pretty calm and my friends and I just begin making up a bunch of funny situations of things that could go on. All of a suddenly the lights all turn off. Everyone is silent. The lights quickly turn back on and everyone around me cheers. My friends and I are confused not knowing what’s going on but I just look back at my brother for re assurance that everything is al right. There are a few random dudes up holding some mics and weird stuff. I knew it was all just about to go down. Without warning, the amps go on all speakers start blasting and BOOM my ears fill with different sounds. I turn back and see all my friends smiling just as exited as I was.
It was something new so we followed the noob rules. Stand on the sides, corners, front, back and try to stand behind people. If we are left in the open just stick your hands in a fist out or stick your leg out so you don’t get hurt. There’s kids dancing all over the place and music blasting that feels like my ears are about to explode. I feel like just jumping in and dancing but my brother advises me not to reminding me that I already look like a poser and that I don’t want to look like an even bigger one. I don’t really mind just seeing it all go down it just rewarding enough.
